A special art exhibition dedicated to Dante Alighieri opens next month in Italy

I think we have one more reason to visit Italy this year as a special exhibition will open on the 1st April in Forlì in Italy as part of the national celebration of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri. I still remember the hours I spent reading Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso books at school and university, it is not an easy read when you are a teen however reading Dante has definitely influenced my studies and thoughts.

Dante. The vision of art is organised by Gallerie degli Uffizi in Florence together with the Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì Foundation and it will be held from 1st April to 11th July in the San Domenico museums in Forlì: masterpieces by Andrea del Castagno, Michelangelo, Pontormo, Federico Zuccari will be on loan from the Uffizi Galleries.

As part of the national celebrations of the 700 years since the death of Dante Alighieri, promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities for the year 2021, the Uffizi Galleries and the Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì Foundation will create the great exhibition 'Dante. The vision of art ', which will be held in the spaces of the San Domenico Museums of Forlì from 1st April to 11th July 2021.

'As a result of the partnership between the Foundation and the Uffizi Galleries, the exhibition will not be only an opportunity to celebrate Dante's anniversary: in the difficult moment that the whole world lives, it is also a symbol of redemption and rebirth for our country and the whole world.' The project was born from an idea by Eike Schmidt, Director of the Uffizi Galleries, and Gianfranco Brunelli, Director of the major exhibitions of the Cassa dei Risparmi di Forlì Foundation. The curators of the exhibition are Prof. Antonio Paolucci and Prof. Fernando Mazzocca. The choice of Forlì is part of an overall strategy for enhancing a territory that is a natural bridge between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna and is also a "dantesque" city. In Forlì Dante was a refugee in the autumn 1302, remaining for over a year with the Ordelaffi, Ghibelline lords of the city. A valuable collaboration was put in place: that of the Uffizi Galleries, which will lend many of their works, including some famous masterpieces from their collections.

I can't wait to return to Italy (in all safety, of course) and take advantage also of this cultural event. For any queries please feel free to contact me +44 7834 632 052 nicoletta@npmarketing.co.uk
